Academy Policies


Class Refunds:

Partial Refunds are only issued before the students first scheduled class:

  • 6 or less days before the first class = PARTIAL Refund (30%)

  • Any time after the first class = NO Refund (0%)

Tuition/Payment/Prorating:

  • Tuition is to be made in full prior to the students first scheduled class and then at the end or beginning of each month.

  • Options to purchase multiple months are available.

  • Payment can be made via e-transfer, through the invoice or in person at the academy.

  • If you are registering late in the month, your invoice will be prorated for the remaining weeks of the month. Depending on how late into the month you register, it may also include tuition for the next months classes.

    Example: A student registers on the 3rd week of the month. Their invoice will include 1 week for that month + the full 4 weeks of the next month.

Workshop Deposits/Refunds:

In the event of a workshop cancellation, your deposit will be refunded to you. Otherwise deposits are non-refundable. Deposits are required to reserve your place in the workshop.
If you are not able to attend the workshop, you may have your workshop deposit moved to another workshop.

Scheduling and Lost Classes:

  • Classes are typically scheduled for 3 hours unless otherwise stated. Students are welcome to leave at any time during their class. However, any remaining time will be lost and cannot be made up at another date.

  • When registering for classes, students select a time slot/day of the week and commit to that schedule. Changes are allowed with prior notice.

  • If a student is unable to attend and does not reschedule a class, it is lost.
    Please inform the Academy of any absences.

  • If the instructor cannot conduct a class, affected students will be notified, and a makeup class will be rescheduled at no extra cost.

  • Classes purchased for a specific month must be attended within that month. They cannot be split across multiple months or saved for future dates.

Being Late for class:

Please contact the instructor if you will be running late.
Otherwise if you are the only student in your time slot and you arrive past the 30 minute mark, the class will be cancelled/lost.

Attitude and Behaviour:

Rude or Disruptive behaviour towards other students, the instructor or other staff is NOT tolerated at the Ottawa Art Academy. If a student is found in violation of this policy they will be removed from the program. We strive for a mature, polite and respectable studio space that is accepting of all people.

No refund will be given.
